Who doesn’t want shiny, luxurious celebrity hair?  Having amazing hair makes all the difference not only in how you look, but how you feel!  Here, I interviewed expert hair stylist Jessica Fremuth to get the inside story on how to achieve luscious locks of your own!

Trousseau of Dallas: This Spring it’s all about braids, knots, ponytails, and hair accessories galore!  What are your favorite trends for Spring?

Jessica Fremuth: I’m really into deep side parts right now!! It’s so much fun because you can totally change your look and get so much more volume from switching up your part. Im also really loving all the 60’s inspired hair I’ve seen on the runways.

TOD: A lot of women lighten their hair during the Spring and Summer months, do you suggest this?

JF: I absolutely love lightening up for summer months! Taking proper care of your hair is the key to having healthy, luscious locks no matter the season. A more natural sun kissed look achieved with balayage lightening is the best for summer!

TOD: You’re great at creating volume and touchable looks that last, what products do you reach for when creating those looks?  Do you have any tips for women to use during their morning routine?

JF: The perfect blowout is all about building a foundation. Start with a body building shampoo (I loooove O’right Goji berry volumizing shampoo). Use a good conditioner that will moisturize your ends without weighing the hair down. I like O’Right Purple Rose Conditioner. Some of my favorite styling products are “Body” mousse and “Blow-up Thickening Mist” both made by Blow. I like using them together to get the ultimate volume zing cocktail. Setting the top section of your hair in rollers while you finish getting ready will also add an extra kick of body.

TOD: What’s your favorite bad hair day fix?

JF: Dry shampoo saves my life many days!!! (I use L’Oreal Fresh Dust) I always find that a  topknot works well with bad hair day conditions and makes any outfit look chic.

TOD: Many women want the volume and length that hair extensions and hair pieces give them.  What kind of extensions do you like to use on your clients?  What are the different options available depending on a woman’s individual hair needs?

JF: The options for extensions and hair pieces these days are endless. What matters most in my opinion is the quality of the hair and how experienced the professional is that is installing them. There are many different methods for all different problems so you always want to consult someone who has extensive knowledge! I use Hairdreams and Cinderella brands for strand by strand extensions, Easihair for fun fringe and bang attachments, clip in and tape in extensions. I also use Hairdreams Volume plus systems for women who need options for thinning hair, hair loss or recovery from chemotherapy.

TOD: How can women keep their hair extensions and hair pieces looking their best between appointments?

JF: The best advice I have to keep your extensions and hairpieces in tip top shape is to invest in good quality shampoos, conditioners and styling products. It really makes a difference what you are putting on your hair and in your body. With strand by strand extensions, brushing your hair regularly and separating the bonds will be the key to keeping your hair as well as the extensions in the best condition.

TOD: As the Summer months approach, we start to worry about hair dryness and fading color from being in the sun.  What are your tips for keeping hair in top shape throughout the season?

JF: Using a conditioning product that also protects your hair from UV damage is best during these scorching summer months. “Time to Shine” from Blow does just this plus smells ahhmazzing. Malibu C makes a great shampoo called “Swimmers Wellness”that will combat the damaging effects of harsh elements from the pool. Getting a glaze at the salon will also give life and incredible shine back to your hair!

TOD: You do beautiful hair for events, and right now it’s undeniably wedding season!  What is your favorite hairstyle for a blushing bride?  And for those of us attending a wedding, what style would you suggest?

JF: I am seeing a lot of retro inspired styles as well as very sleek, tidy up-dos this wedding season. You can never go wrong (and look effortlessly chic!) with romantic, loose wavy hairstyles.
